Presenting...

Today's romance titles for you to mock...

The midwife's new-found family

The surgeon she's been waiting for

Blind-date baby

Savas' defiant mistress

The Vendacci marriage vengeance

Pregnant with the billionaire's baby

The Greek millionaire's secret child

The ruthless billionaire's virgin

Here's the synopsis for The ruthless billionaire's virgin. All bracket remarks are me :D

Handsome, but brutally scarred (he couldn't afford plastic surgery?), elusive billionaire Ethan Alexander shuns the limelight. So when his gallant rescue of Savannah Ross forces him into the media's glare, he's less than thrilled.

Savannah's buxom figure belies her inexperience
(are they saying what I think they're saying?) - she's not quite sure how to handle her fierce protector! But when he whisks her to his palace deep in the Tuscan hills (really they're not that deep), she sees a glimpse of the magnificence beneath his flaws. (Oh please?!) This is a man with a darkened heart in need of salvation - and only an innocent in his bed can bring it...

Believe it or not the romance novels I frequently allude to on this blog aren't the worst. Oh no - there is another section of this genre that can make us raise our eyebrows. These are what I refer to as 'bodice rippers' and it's frequently the covers that get my attention.

They invariably consist of a picture of the two lovers; clad in historical costume and in varying states of undress.

Check out the examples, courtesy of the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] bookishtype, below and read the comments as well. They're good for a laugh! :D

The last few piles of romances have been depressingly Sheikhless (yes it's a word *nods*). I've missed them so.

The Italian billionaire’s Christmas miracle

The blurb
Domenico Silvaggio d’Avalos (check out the swanky name!) knows that the beautiful, unworldly Canadian who begged him to teach her the art of vine-growing (why didn’t she get a book, or look it up on the internet?) isn’t mistress material (do mistresses still exist?)< but might Arlene Russel be suitable as a wife? (Suitable????? WTF?) In the sumptuous surroundings of a top Paris hotel (no budget accommodation needed here. Obviously she’s not that unworldly), Arlene proves she has courage – and a passion to match his own. (What she do? Refuse to go to bed with him?)

There’s more but I can’t stand to type it…

An extract from a random page

"Domenico!" she sobbed, urging him past caution with hands grown clever in their desperation. Opening her legs wide, she pulled him on top of her with superhuman strength, and guided him to where her flesh throbbed and ached for his complete possession.

People get paid for this and countless people read it *sigh*.
