Most of the comms I frequent and my flisters are still on LJ. But just in case... I'm bookaddict43 on Dreamwidth and Archive of our own as well. So original!
I try to remember to import to Dreamwidth at least every couple of days :) And am slowly uploading fic to AO3.

Well it looks like LJ is down again? Anyone know what's happening?
Though some of my lovely flisters are over here, most of the comms I love exist over on LJ as do lots and lots of friends. I'll never fully move from there - I just wish the site was more stable :(

I now have holidays for the next three weeks! *jumps up and down* One of those weeks is State Titles week for the LG, so technically not a holiday, but still I'll be on a break.

It's nearly time to go out to the garden and slash at a ton of trees. One disadvantage of living in the tropics is that everything grows insanely fast and I spend half my life outside cutting down vines and tree branches.
Another disadvantage is that chocolate must be kept in the fridge. This makes hiding Easter eggs extremely difficult. Of course the LG, now 12 and not so little, doesn't really need the eggs to be hidden, but it's tradition!!!
The last couple of days a lovely person has been commenting on some of my old fic. This bolsters my faltering fic writing ego and is so encouraging. I really have to stop lurking and comment on people's stories. I used to comment on everything Firefly, but have become quite the stalker in the Merlin and Star Trek fandoms. In fact I might go comment on some of those Star Trek fics which people are bashing *sticks out tongue at bashers*.

I have a whopping 10 mins, 20 mins if I'm lucky, in the morning between waking up myself, the LG, feeding the dog...you know all that morning stuff; to have a little me time - and I can't read my flist!

Yes, believe it or not, I'm changing my journal a little. I might even change my default icon! *gasp*

Tomorrow is my RDO (rostered day off) which means I don't have to put my shoes on! I'll have 3 days without shoes!! *dances happily* Shoes + my feet = blisters and for the last two summers I've yet to achieve nirvana for my feet, aka no blisters. It doesn't matter how expensive, or cheap the dumb things are...I still get blisters. I should have bought stock in the bandaid company. I'd be rich and could stay home and write fic all day. The current shoes I'm wearing to work are the best of a bad lot. I only acquire 3 blisters from wearing them. Today I managed to get a blister from the bandaids. *sigh* As soon as the temperature goes under 28 (80) for more than a day (probably another 2 months yet), I'll be digging out my half-boots for six months of non-blistery bliss :)
Does the LJ search function give you the shits? Since the changes, it's impossible to search for comms and journals.
I complained to Telsta about my internet speed and the actually fixed it! I'm now on a faster speed plan for no extra price. I can actually watch a 4 minute fanvid without it stopping six times in the first minute.
After reccing Firefly atcrack_van last month, this month it's Magnificent Seven time! That's the second time that's happened. And speaking of recs, don't forget to join fireflyrecs and tell us about your favourite fics, vids or whatever :D So far lvs2read and I are the only ones that have posted.

Because I've got a meeting today and won't have much time to do the newsletter, I went through all the sites for links forfirefly_signal last night, typed everything up and left the post till I could do a final check this morning. And LJ has eaten it!! For the first time ever *head desk*. Now I have to start all over again, I have 15 minutes before I have to get ready for work, a meeting etc etc - I guess it'll be lunch time before I get the signal done and posted...*laments*.

Like a lot of my flist though - if I migrate, I lose nearly all of you! *clings tightly* Also I've paid till February next year and I'm loath to give that man my money for nothing *is vengeful*.
Edit: I'm not leaving LJ either, for the moment, but what to have back-up plans.
So - I already had an IJ account (sorrysquish, I never even thought of the name implications) which I never used. When I figure out the cross-posting thingie, I'll cross-post to there all the time and eventually maybe cross-post from there (a nice distinction). Before you tell me that cross-posting etc is easier, remember this is me, the person who can't even make an icon!:)
Also I've set up a jaylee_ship comm over there as well, because I really am mistrustful of the LJ heirachy and their way of doing 'business'.
In other news - I still can't find the little guy's passport! Why am I so stupid???????????????????????????

Here I am at our annual conference and suffering Internet deprivation!
Despite being one of the (so they say) fastest growing cities in the SouthEast my accommodation has no Internet connections (They have hardly any powerpoints either I might add) and neither does the conference venue. I'm currently here at the library having snuck out at lunchtime to read my work/real life emails and take a quick glance at LJ!!
I can't wait till Wednesday when I'll be at my niece's house and have broadband access again! Have a good time till then and write lots of fic for me to catch up on!! :)
