It's the first soccer game of the season and of course I need shin pads. After rummaging through the shoe pile I found 7 different types!. How many pairs were there? 1!

1 out of 7! I wonder where all the stray shin pads are? Perhaps I could make a sculpture with all the lonely ones? :D

Toilet bowl frog is back and he is annoying me! I haven't seen him in over two weeks and I thought at last he was gone, but alas he's not.

Don't get me wrong; I like frogs in the abstract. I think they're beautiful to look at but...Read more... )

Today are friend and I (somehow) wound up talking about our kitchen appliances and I realised that my microwave is a venerable 22 years old! I bought it way back when my little portable convection oven bit the dust. It took me four months to pay off on layby from KMart and aside from having to replace a seal, has never given me a moments trouble. But the reason I'm remembering this is not that I bought my microwave, but the fact that 22 years ago, was the time I changed my life by starting university as a mature age student.

Now I feel really old :D

Roof worry

The cyclone north of us was downgraded to a low, but you'd never know it. It's rained all day and the wind down here at the beach is positively gale force. Actually stronger than our last cyclone I think.

We lost part of our big gum tree this afternoon and just now the gutter fell off the verandah roof and the roof itself is not looking too stable. Since it's 11pm and more than a little windy, I can't get up and tie the roof down. Cross your fingers it's still there in the morning please???? If it goes, the roof would hit someone else's house and I don't want that to happen *worries*.

I'm home at last and I was so happy to see my Mother and the little guy, I missed them! They seem to have done very well together and my yard and house are so clean and tidy I hardly recognised the place.

I'm still getting over the jetlag, but once I stop falling asleep at all the wrong moments I have lots of things to do-

Describe the wonderful time I had at the Browncoat Cruise (hopefully pictures and writing tomorrow)

Write my prompts for [livejournal.com profile] nerd_herder and [livejournal.com profile] chuck_slash

Finish my Sweet Charity duties

Write my [livejournal.com profile] serenity_santa fics

Send out Christmas cards - they're all going to be late so I'm apologising in advance! :D

Try and finish at least one WIP

There's lots of other stuff too, but fortunately I've forgotten it for now :D

We're currently going through the childhood ritual of chickenpox, the child is covered in spots. But not sick, definitely not sick. On our second day at home (he's contagious) he's already done everything. Played in the rain, watched DVD's, can't play the computer (cause the meanie's using it), played with all his toys, driven the dog crazy, ridden his bike.....the list goes on.

So we went to the beach, where I can sit there with a book and he can run wild and dig for mud crabs, chase fish, and go swimming. I love the beach!
