Words can not describe how much I love the TOS episode Mirror Mirror. As a child I watched it so often I could recite it, and nothing much has changed :D

I adored the 'Mirror' episodes in DS9. MirrorKira was such an evil badass and Quark as a hero figure? Awesome! I have every Star Trek novel, in any incarnation, related to the Mirror 'Verse. There's a goodly amount of Mirror 'Verse fic related to the new movie. Do I read it? No I do not. Despite the fact there's a nice helping of Kirk/McCoy in this fic, I'm not even tempted. I have no idea why?

On a totally different subject:

Back in the days of the dim dark past (early 90s here) when the Internet was coming into it's own, there was one thing drummed into you when learning how to use it. Only use capital letters when necessary. If you typed all in capitals - you were shouting at people. It was frowned on. On one of the very early fan forums I was on, someone was banned for over-abuse of capital letters. Mind you I thought this was over-zealous to say the least, but I was in the minority.

Fast foward to today...Where some comms are so full of CAPSLOCK glee that it's hurtful to the eyes :)

It's ages since my last icon post. The brain drain has affected that as well :( But I'm making an effort to get back on track.

Firefly, Bradley James (Arthur) and Star Trek icons in this post. Textless icons are not bases but all are available for snagging, just remember to credit if used.

My Star Trek DVD came today! *twirls* I got The limited edition complete with Enterprise statuette, because yes I am a geek :)

The LG being away at school camp I got to watch it without interruption and it was as good as I remembered. A repeat viewing will be order again very soon - perhaps tonight! *grins*

The movie has brought me back full circle - because Star Trek and Doctor Who was where I first started reading fan fic. Damn near 30 years ago now... Of course in those days (this is a topic for another ramble) I never read slash - but Firefly converted me and I read it now a lot :D

Here's some recs - both gen and slash...Read more... )

Next time - some Merlin recs...

The things you find whilst procrastinating...

*giggles madly*

The Wrath of Khan done as an opera. Don't forget to watch the denouement - Spock's ears have to be seen to be believed :D

I've finally got to see it! Well actually I've been twice now - and loved it *bounces*.

Do you realise, and I realise I'm dating myself here, that I've seen all 11 Trek movies on the big screen? Yes indeedy *nods*. And even though I love the old TOS cast (yes even William Shatner) to bits, and tolerated most of the STNG people - this movie was the best.

Here's a few drive-by squee points -spoilers behind the cut )

Live long and prosper :)

The only sad thing is - that after close to 40 years of practising the Vulcan farewell I still can't get my fingers to do it :( :DD

Star Trek has finally arrived at the local theatre and I am going to the first showing on Thursday!!! *dances*

Of course it has to be at 8.45pm (WTF theatre owners?), so I've got to do something with the Little guy, but I'm going. I've waited this long and my patience has run out :) I hope someone will squee with me when I get home...
