Greetings!!
Dec. 12th, 2006 03:48 pmWe've just finished watching the great Disneyland fireworks from our little balcony - they were awesome. There are plans afoot to take the little guy to that part tomorrow, he was much too tired and already asleep *yay* to go this evening.
Yes here we are in Anaheim and enjoying our 3 day Disneyland pass.
We had a wonderful time at the non-Flan. I'm so grateful to the California Browncoats for making my first con memorable after the initial disappointment. They did such a professional job organising the replacement events it makes me wonder what we would have got if they'd had the whole week to plan...
Thursday night I've told you about - getting to see Adam!! That man is so great (as are the others) for turning up like he did. I was really impressed with his patience with everyone and his humour when speaking. I forsee more fanfic on the horizon after this meeting I can tell you!
Friday we went with some of our flist (hugs to them all) out to Santa Monica pier where some of us got to see the Pacific for the first time. The little guy was most impressed to see real wild seals just off the pier and had fun running on the sand and we had our first taste of funnel cake!!
We got back to the hotel in time for the Shindig and were stunned to see Nathan come in!! He was giving out things to all and sundry. By virtue of being Australian and
squish_67 pushing me forward, I got a photo of the flowers he and Christina carried in Trash. Nathan's wit and humour while handing all his gifts out was awesome and he's much better looking (if that's possible) in person!
Then to top the evening off Alan Tudyk arrived and after standing in a queue for awhile
squish_67 and I had a group photo with both Nathan and Alan! Kudos to them for trying to get as many fans photos as possible.
The Saturday panels were really great. Thanks to
autumxchild and her husband for giving me and the little guy a ride over!! I loved listening to Greg Edmonson and had a great time looking at all the dealers tables and trying not to buy stuff *grins*. The Bedlam Bards were really witty and musical - I've bought their CD and plan on inflicting it on everyone at home who even has even vaguely heard of Firefly.
Saturday night bought us a trip to Hollywood and a visit to a club there!! It was madly crowded and a bit squishy inside for the little guy so we sat on the patio. Which I was told was only finished that morning!! We chatted to Mark Shepherd for quite a while and he and the child had an arm wrestle!! I saw Nathan come in and Niska and listened to Jonathan Woodward giving a speech from the bar. It started to rain then and though the little guy wanted to give his singing in the rain impression, I thought not and we started to leave when Ron Glass walked right by us. It was his wonderful laugh that had me looking up. He laughed the whole way through the crowd and waved! Such a nice guy!!
Sunday we had more talks and panels. Tim Minear did a great commentary on Ariel and showed us clips from his latest show to come. He's a great speaker and had the audience in the palm of his hands. Jonathan Woodward had everyone in stitches and the Bedlam Bards backed him up really well, I haven't laughed so much in ages. Last of all I attended a fanfiction panel which I enjoyed very much. Thanks so much to the two lovely ladies that ran it!!
So now non-Flan is over and we have about 8 days left of our holidays.
jayneswoman, me and the little guy have got 3 days here in Disneyland then on to San Diego and more fun stuff like Seaworld and San Diego Zoo!!
No photos yet - I'm old-fashioned and broke and still have a film camera!! When I get home you may be innnundated! Run - hide!! :)
