Musings on passports, crocodiles and dogs

bookaddict43It’s only one month till I leave for the States! Only one month! I still can’t find my passport and even I am becoming slightly panicked by this. During the great passport hunt though, I’ve found my camera which has been missing for a least a year, and some jewellery.
The jewellery isn’t mine and I have no notion of whose it is. I found it when I was searching the safe. I know my passport isn’t there – I’ve never used the safe since the day I moved in, but I’m getting desperate. Anyway I was searching the safe and there hidden behind the door was a jewellery box! Some of it looks valuable, so I’ll have to do some detective work.
Crocodiles have been spotted at Picnic Bay, the place we’re supposed to be going to a surf carnival this weekend.
Living where we do, we’re used to both estuarine and saltwater crocs here, but not at city beaches. Of course whether the carnival will still be run is uncertain and I’ve booked accommodation and cancelled all other weekend events to attend. The little guy is full of questions about the crocodiles, he’s fascinated with them anyway, and we spent the whole 22 kms on the way to school discussing them! *headdesk*
The dog has spent the last week escaping from the concentration camp that is my yard. The fence is 6 foot high, I’ve blocked off every possible escape route I can find and he still gets out!
Some officious neighbour, who doesn’t know me or the dog, reported him and the council have been round looking for him!! So I tied him up for today till I can get a better fence built and now she’s apparently complaining that he’s howling! *ahhhhh* Of course when we’re home he never goes anywhere, he just likes company. But now I’m worrying about him this weekend if we go away…
On a happier note – it looks like the powers that be will let us have the coffee vending machine in the library!! A victory that’s taken me two years of nagging, bitching and Machiavelli type manoeuvres to achieve!! *dance*
