But where's all the other wonderful sci-fi/fantasy type books that I've loved?

The Hobbit, everything by Stephen Donaldson, I Robot for god's sake????

What books would you list?

I think they're probably counting The Hobbit in with LOTR; I know I would have.

I would list everything by Terry Pratchett, of course, because I'm obsessed with the Discworld. And David Eddings' Belgariad. David Brin should certainly be on this list (ever read The Postman? Brilliant). Steven Brust's Taltos series. And I'm shocked that Andre Norton isn't on this list somewhere...

I could just keep going and going and going...*g*

I consider myself a Scifi/fantasy reader first and yet - I've read less books on this list that I did on the classics list

Where is David Eddings? And I echo your Donaldson query. (two of my favorites) What about Piers Anthony and shouldn't JK be on this list? So many others that I can't even think to list right now.

Yes the Pern book too. I agree you should make a new list - I would be interested in you choices. maybe do 25 instead of 100.

I don't know who put this list together but they definitely weren't average SciFi fans. There are way too many collections (seven by my count) which most folks don't read. Then again, based on some of the actual real novels on this list it seems a bit too hi-brow for my tastes.

I enjoy short stories, don't get me wrong, but a collection of short stories does not a great work of fiction make.

For the books, I've read some that were on that list and some that were not. It does seem to have several collections. as for what I would list any book I've thought of has bean listed by others but even so the Pern books are something I would love to read again also "Dragon your majesty", anything by Robin Hov(or maybe It's Hob).
