ladytalon1’s Romantic title generator drabble request. I have no Major Mitchell icons! How is this so??
“Well I never!” Martha Williams surveyed her burnt out Winnebago with a sigh.
Didn’t those god forsaken aliens have anything better to do than bomb innocent folks’ property?
Of course she’d got out of it a lot easier than some folk. The moment the ships were sighted her great-granddaughter appeared and persuaded her to move the RV. They’d driven out into the desert and followed the others to the base, only to be bombed by the aliens anyway.
With no news of the rest of the family they were clinging to each other and Martha at least was already planning for the future.
She had no intention of going to her maker till there were some more of her line to carry on.
Her granddaughter, though a dear girl, was not an ideal candidate. She dressed strangely and had shown no indication of wanting a permanent relationship. But from Martha’s nearly ninety year old perspective, twenty-eight was young – there was still time to work on the girl.
This dreadful disaster had left many people alone. Soon they would be looking to link up with each other, make new families. Surely there would be some eligible men out there that liked independent, quirky, head-strong women?
“Excuse me ma’am?” a gravely voice interrupted her thoughts.
Martha looked up, up and up again into a pair of intense blue eyes attached to the body of an alarmingly virile Master Sergeant. “Yes young man?”
“We need everyone to come and sign up for emergency accommodation,” he gave her a concerned look and offered his arm. “Are you alone here ma’am?”
“My granddaughter’s around somewhere,” Martha stopped short and took in his musculature, his height, handsome face and kind eyes. She peered at the name on his jacket. “Major Mitchell?”
“Yes ma’am?”
“Are you married?”
