Except for having to go to work to discuss the budget I've been having a nice holiday. But this week has been a bit disheartening in some ways. Nothing big - just annoyances that all add up...

The budget process is over again for another year at work - and yet again I got refused my fourth member of staff. *sigh* That's the fifth year running...

After a year of floating prescriptions, sore eyes and contact lenses that don't work, I'm giving up. Despite the fact I can only see distances with my contacts, I'm going to keep them and put those glasses you get from the chemist, on over them when I have to read. The optomertrist says they are bi-focal contacts available but 2 out of 4 people can't wear them.

I bet I'd be one of the 2 for sure; and am sick of trying to be truthful. Since I don't do too well with the wearing of glasses over the contacts - it disorients me- I'll probably end up only using them for sport. I hate that :( Also since I very rarely, up to now, wear my regular glasses; I have to get new lenses for them. Graduated lenses too! I'm not that old *wails*. It's $450 just for the lenses, so I'm sticking with my current frames. I nearly died when I saw the price of new frames!!!

I am trying to save for the Browncoat cruise here! I've paid for the actual cruise (luckily) and have booked my airfare. I was hoping to start paying it off this week - but it'll have to wait.

Then I was all set to try my hand at making some fanvids. I've been really looking forward to it too and practised using Windows Movie Maker and was all ready to start.
But WMM won't work! It grinds to a halt everytime I start a project and gives a different error message everythime *grrr*. So holiday pay in hand (this was before my eye costs) I trundled off to the big smoke (the nearest city) and bought myself a movie making program.

Of course when I got home I realised that it took more memory than my computer had, so I bought more memory. Now the graphics card isn't good enough *sigh*. The computer shop guys say they can install one but in my old computer (it's 2 years old guys!)it might not work so well. They, of course, advise a new computer. Yeah and pigs might fly! I guess making my vids is out for awhile - it seems a bit wasteful to buy a new computer just for that after all.

During my holidays I was hoping to actually finish Them that choose it, but haven't written a word of that or (sorry ceslas Unexpected.

But on the bright side I have written some original fic I'm hoping to enter in a competition and some of my other Firefly and Adam-centric character fics.

And lastly for mercsgoodgirl and anyone else interested; here is a picture of what I imagine Lion the kitten looks like...

So sorry life is being rather suckey right now for you, BA. Maybe it's a cosmic thing. I've had a hard time lately, too.

The Burmese is lovely and very "Lion-esque"!

*hugs you* Ugh. Glasses and contacts stink! It's so hard to get what you need nowadays. You'd think it'd get easier, but it really doesn't. Hang in there!

We've been looking at new computers and I still don't think I'd try my hand at fanvids. Every vid maker has had issues of some sort or another with those programs - especially with the freezing of the computer.

I really hate not being able to see, and your right it doesn't get easier worse luck. I'm really thinking of getting the laser treatment, but it scares me to death.

That totally sucks about your poor eyeballs *pets them gently* I used to have bifocals, and they were ridiculous.... I can't imagine how bifocal contacts would work, they sound wierd. And yeah, the price of new frames are outrageous everywhere :[

The fanvid process sounds like its more trouble than it's worth, tell you the truth! But I hope you get it up and working; I'd love to see what you do with it!

Dare I hope that some of that fic you've actually written is more Chadrea???? *begging eyes* Lion-the-kitty is so cute! I love kitties.

My eyeballs thank you...and I don't see how they could work either, it's going to be bad enough having graduated glasses!!

Yeah I know about the fanvids, but I wanna do it *is stubborn*. It might have to wait though till I solve the computer conundrum...
