Rain

It's been raining for two days straight now and I can't help seeing the difference between here and where I was this time last week.

Last week down in South West New South Wales, it was the dryest I've ever seen it. There's not a blade of grass to be seen in the paddocks and people are walking the cattle along the stock routes in a vain attempt to feed them. My niece's husband was so excited about the 50 mm (2 inches) of rain they got a couple of weeks back.

In contrast, I just checked the rainfall indicators for our area, and in the town where the little guy goes to school they got 36mm in one hour.

Of course this means that now there's a flood warning out for our river. There'll be no school for the little guy tomorrow, (I drove through streams to get him there today and then 2 hours later they cancelled), and half my staff won't be able to come to work (sometimes they're cut off for days). The flip-side to that is I actually get lots of work done, because a large part of our clientel is also cut off...

Here's a map of our area. We're near Ingham where all the red dots are!!

Cool! Stay dry and have fun. I love a good storm (or several in a row, as the case may be). They don't happen often here in the desert, but when they do....

Everything is damp! Even the chairs feel damp. But at least we have water, thank goodness!
