Put like that it's even more ridiculous. It's really pretty scary out there...

Ooops, apparently I completely fail at html. Let's try it again!

"Put like that it's even more ridiculous."

I know! I'm wondering how many people out there are saying, "It's not natural! It doesn't happen in nature," and completely neglecting to think, "Oh. Wait..." later.

The icon is by [livejournal.com profile] litmusfolie, and I love it too!

I want the book too! *giggles*

The whole article reminds me of the late 80s when they 'sanitised' Enid Blyton books, particularly the Noddy series. 'Cause Noddy and Big Ears shared a bed and that made them gay!!!

I don't think there is an easy answer to that question.

True. Unfortunately, this is one of those issues that is sensitive on both sides. Meaning that any chance of discussion is shot out of the water before it starts. *headwall*

The only reason that I sound like I'm backing both is because my background is of the scary/strange people...I've just learned more since then.

*sigh* Sadly, this does not surprise me. It's a book, for heaven's sake! You'd think that with this being the new milennium and all, where homosexuality is as common as religiousness, that we could all be just a little more tolerant. Evidently not so much.

Tolerance is still not common enough unfortunately...

It's this kind of marrow-minded bullshit that breeds bigotry.

We can't hope to rid the world of intolerance when tolerance isn't commonplace.

In high school, my friend Kristy and I got ahold of a list of banned books (through time) and set about reading the whole list. THAT's the way I tend to react to this bullshit.

I'm so very tired of people coming down on gays. It's not even a matter of being open-minded. It's about being decent and kind and FAIR.

Fairness and decency are in short supply sometimes I think. I really dislike moralistic censorship.

Gah! I know I shouldn't continue to be stunned by people's narrowmindedness, prejudice, and (let's just cut to the chase here) stupidity. I mean: "OMG! If kids read about gay penguins, it'll turn them gay!" I'm just at a loss for words here.
