I paid for our airfares on Friday! I’ve finally managed to get a flight home – not easy at close to Christmas time!!

Now our trip away seems so much closer and I can start planning what to do when we get there. Aside from, of course, going to Flan!! (I’m so excited about that by the way.)

We’re flying first to New York and finishing up in Los Angeles and it got me thinking about when I last visited those two places…..

After consulting my memory and going through my passports (yes I have a few!) I realised that I last visited the U.S exactly 20 years ago!

OMG 20 years!! Now I really feel old.

I had a wonderful time! It was one of the first, last & only times I took an organised tour. It was on a double-decker London bus with sleeping quarters upstairs and the kitchen and sitting area downstairs. We saw the Grand Canyon in the snow (it was so beautiful!) and the St Patrick’s Day parade in NY and did lots of other fun things.

When I finished there it was off to Europe for another couple of months and travelling in the lap of luxury for me. I had a Eurail pass and visited every country possible.

Now my challenge is – for those of you old enough to answer! lol

What were you doing 20 years ago???

I was in junior high. Thereabouts. I shudder to think...I was one of those kids who HATED every single minute of school. Ugh. Your story is better.

Well, was getting ready to start at Emerson College to pursue a career in film... Yup, I was going to be the next George Lucas, only a better writer...that didn't happen of course. But I think I am a better writer! (I know, I know, that is saying almost nothing! Even though I love A New Hope no matter what- it had my first love in it, an ornery Space Pirate!)
In the spring of 1986 I was on a HS trip to Moscow and then Leningrad- we were held at the airport before coming home due to the Chernobyl nuclear reactor meltdown, so I glow in the dark ;)
I am by nature a loquacious person, so I could easily ramble on and on here...will wait til I see you at Flan, and then I will bore your ears off! Or you will regale me with tales of your youth!

I console myself with age and treachery eing mightier than youth and skill...That is how I see Jayne having survived into his forties...if it works for him, it can work for us ;)
They can run, but we know they will be where we are someday!

Me...I was....well uh....twenty years ago I was getting ready to enter my terrible twos.

I wish I was a world travelor like you. Its always so fun to meet people who have been around the world. Of course I am crazy jealous, but that's alright.

I will give a vacation update real soon.

Wow - 20 years? Oh man - not a good time. My parents divorced somewhere around 20 years ago and everything went downhill from there. I was 10 and a mess. Been one ever since. ;D

I did gain a dog that year and moved into my grandparent's house (with my mom and brother). I liked living with them so much, it took me 19 years to actually move out.

I'm sure you'll be shocked to see how much things have changed. I'm so excited to be able to be a part of your trip here this go round. Hee! *bounces for Flanvention*

Twenty years ago, eh?

Well my family and I had just moved into *the city*, having lived on a farm for five years or so.

And I started kindergarten.

*giggles*
