I missed signing up for Yuletide :(

I know it's a little thing, but after the year I've had it's really disappointing.

With my computer being down, I had to wait till I got to work to sign-up and it being Monday and busy; I didn't get to my computer till 2 hours after sign-up.

Oh well. I made it a step closer this year and actually nominated my fandoms. So I'll start thinking about next year and edge ever closer!

Does anyone know if you can write treats if you're not signed up?

Oh no :(

I don't know much about it at all, except for what you've posted. Is it just a fic exchange?

It's a multi-fandom, small/rare fandom fic exchange that's grown and grown. There's book, anime, movie, tv, rpf, historical and everything else in between fandoms. This year according to stats there are 2911 fandoms represented with 12205 characters listed.

One of my all-time favourite fics, Killing Elvis (http://archiveofourown.org/works/37677) was a product of Yuletide.

You can still write treats, and what's more, you can sign up to the pinch hitters email list - my first Yuletide, I missed sign-ups and let the mods know why (my grandmother's death and funeral, I know it sounded like an excuse but was absolutely genuine) and they gave me first dibs on any pinch hits that came in which were in my offered fandoms.

This sounds doable, though I guess it means I need a Yahoo account for the pinch hitting.

For treats do you just read the fandom lists or what?

btw thanks for your answers about all this! Next year I'll be ready to go...

Sadly you do need a yahoo account, but it doesn't have to be a yahoo email. Mine sends to gmail. (And the first lot of pinch hits went out last night, so must have been in your timezone. )

Keep an eye on the comms! There's a spreadsheet of Dear Author letters you can look through (and sort by fandoms, if you like) but there should also somewhere be a thing on the AO3 of all offers.

You write as usual, upload to AO3 to the Yuletide collection and make sure they're marked for the right recipient. (I think there's a smaller minimum wordcount for treats too?)

http://yuletide.livejournal.com/996420.html?thread=11992644#t11992644 is the stuff about treats - looks like the full prompt list won't be available until Madness, but there's no reason you can't skim through the spreadsheet of Dear Author letters and find fandoms and prompts that you want to write for that way!

Which reminds me, I must write my Dear Author letter tonight.
