The moments he spent flying through the black were where he felt utter freedom.

But there were also moments of stultifying boredom, many moments, hours of moments, too many gorram moments.

To pass the moments, when Zoë was occupied and he wasn’t flying, Wash played with his dinosaurs and searched through the Cortex for music.

His particular fondness was for the crass and ancient music from Earth-that-was.

I was made for loving you baby he gyrated round the bridge.

“What in the ‘Verse? The Shepherd exclaimed, studying the grotesque creatures on the Cortex screen.

“Kiss!” Wash giggled. “Aren’t they great?”
