Mininano entry 8

bookaddict43I missed a day :( But wrote something in this last few minutes before going to bed *relieved sigh*. Of course it's not my big bang fic or evey one of my WIPs, but something that just popped into my head.
455 words of Jayne POV in an AU 1/2 way through Serenity the movie...
“I’ll be taking my leave then,” I blurted it out afore Mal could keep talking, but nearly took it back when him and the others stared at me.
Those gorramn twins were right; one day Mal’s luck was going to run out, and this might be the day. What with running through Reavers and all. That was what decided me right there. I might be all kinds of stupid and do all sorts of stuff for money, but I’m not so far gone I’m gonna take on a pack of Reavers for no reason. And there ain’t a reason. Not really. Maybe there’s stuff to find out on Miranda, but why do we have to find it out? We could just take the girl and run. But Mal ain’t gonna do that. He’s got that look on his face where he’s all set to do something stupid in the name of righteousness. Sure I’m mad about the Shepherd and even sorry for the crazy-ass girl, but we’re going to die – or they’re going to die, because I’m not going with them.
I’d try and talk Kaylee into staying, but she won’t. She’ll follow Mal like always, like they all do, Buddha knows why. Even Wash, who’s looking at me sideways, you can see he’s thinking on it. But there’s no way in hell he’ll leave his woman and there’s no way she’s leaving Mal so that’s that I guess.
Mal sees the sense of it my eyes for once and just shrugs and starts ordering the others around while I go get my stuff. When they were all done desecrating the boat, I made sure they didn’t use the Shepherd, that’d be plain wrong, and were set to go; he came shook my hand and clapped me on the back. You could see his mind was already on the next stage of his half-assed plan, but he was set on telling me he didn’t think I was doing wrong. As if I cared. But I shook his hand too and gave him as much of a salute as a merc like me is capable of and stood to watch them fly away. When they were well and truly gone, I grabbed my bags ready to go find a comfortable hut for the next couple of months and ran slap bang into the crazy girl.
She was standing there spooky eyes all crazy, tears running down her face and I ain’t afraid to say I took a step back. My balls were still tingling from the slug she gave them and the scar where she cut me once was getting all itchy, but she just shook her head at me and held out a letter. ..

And you nailed his voice wonderfully, :) Also enjoyed the post in which Janye meets Saffron again and takes her back to the hip and the post in which he finds Mal and stays with him till the end made my eyes tear. You are doing a fantastic job with all of these writings. Yay for bookaddict!. More happy writing to you.
