“You sure he’s asleep?” the stage whisper echoed round the room.
“’Tourse.”
“Well don’t poke him! You’ll wake him up for sure.”
“My daddy!” A foot stamped silently. “Mine!”
“An your daddy will kill us if we wake him up.”
“Won’t! – Taptain said Daddy sleeps through everyting!”
Little and big hands strew streamers rapidly.
“How’d I get talked into this?”
“I cried ‘n’ cried.”
“And your bottom lip wobbled, never could resist a wobbling lip.”
“Made my eyes big too, Daddy says big eyes are the bestest weapons.”
A rustling sound came from the bed.
“Run Wash, Daddy’s awake!”
“Aaargh!”
