Well I've done it! I've signed up for Firefly Big Bang. Now aside from the question of whether I can write anything at all - what should I write?

Assuming I can finish it, Them that choose it does not have 20,000 words left in it. And really I'd like to write something new...

There's the continuation of Disquiet the Jayne/Inara fic from the ff_roundrobin days. I always wanted to do that and I've got a timeline written up and a chapter breakdown with plot points for that.

Or my idea of an AU which stems from mid episode of Out of Gas. I have a chapter outline for that too which follows the remaining episodes and onto the movie. And it fits ana_grrl's suggestion of loosely strung together chapters; which I think makes the idea of 20,000 words less daunting :) This fic is more likely to turn into Jaylee too - and there's no denying I'm more comfortable writing that pairing *grins widely*.

There's another AU echoing in my head, in first person POV no less, which shoots off from 3/4 of the way through Serenity the movie. This would most likely turn into River/Jayne which kind of surprises me - though I do write them sometimes.

And lastly there's a huge Jayne backstory that always wanted to do. I started it with Didn't fight in no war and never finished it.



I love any and all opinions! This doesn't mean I'll listen to them of course - but I want them :DD

I apologize because I believe I have read more of your fics than I have commented on, but I really enjoy your Firefly fics, and I love your Jayne. So of course I would love to see your Jayne backstory, and I enjoy your Jaylee stuff, so that would be cool!

I'm actually leaning toward joining the scifibigbang, mainly because I don't want to join Dreamwidth. *g* The fic I have in mind to finish would easily end up over 25K, so that's not a problem - if I could get myself in gear and write it. Wish me luck, whatever I decide to do. *g*

As for your ideas... There can never be enough Jayne backstory fics out there. And, actually, I don't think I've seen very many, so that would be fun. Of course, an AU Jaylee sounds good, too, and there haven't been many Jaylee fics lately. So... them's my two cents, for what they're worth. ;)

It was a toss up between the two big bangs. But knowing my minimalist writing style, I was afraid of that extra 5000 words! *shakes head*

I, on the other hand, tend to have no problem with huge word counts. Yeah, I'm a wordy biotch. :D And, yep, it'll definitely be Mal/Simon, though I'm thinking it's going to take it a while to get there. Boys are being difficult. ;)

I'm going to chime in for the Jayne backstory too. I have my own thoughts on what he was doing during the war but I always am curious what others have thought about it as well.

You know, it's been ages since I read some good Jaylee. So my vote goes for that. Plus it's always easier to write something you're comfortable with.

However the Jayne backstory would also be very interesting to read. But I do like a little bit of romance in my stories.
