1. Mr Chris stood and glared, hands brushing his guns; and Mr Ezra drawled something that back on the plantation would’ve meant a duel in the morning and the fella backed down.
2. She was loved and cared for, pampered and preened; a showcase of her parents’ achievements.
3. He trailed the blood from the engine room to the bridge and found Mal lying dead only inches from the button Wash had made.
4.“I was born in the seventh minute, of the seventh hour, on the seventh day."
5. He couldn’t believe the Captain had let the Sheriff and his goons take his guns.

What if they others didn't get back in time to save Mal?
Zoe's shuttle is lost (gets picked up by a settler ship) and Inara's ship is late back to Serenity and Mal has died from blood loss. Inara, Book, Jayne and Kaylee take up his mantle and continue on through the series. It will probably turn out to be a Jaylee fic because everything of mine does...
