Free internet - or why isn't there any?

We (my mother, the LG and me) are off on our annual 3 day holiday and have had great fun on the drive today, ending with a swim in the hotel pool.

When we booked in I was pleased to see there was an Internet service (in lots of places here, it's still not available), but less pleased to see that it wasn't free. :( Although I got the room at a discount (thanks to frequent flyer points etc.), I resent the fact that the caravan park down the road can have free WiFi, but here at the 4 1/2 star hotel I have to pay!!!! $10 a day! But being the internet junkie I am, (and enjoying the quiet part of the day) I paid up with much grumbling and signed on. And what did I find? I have a MB limit!!! No doubt I'll go over the limit pretty quickly...

There goes another hotel I won't be staying at again! I have a list :DD It encompasses such estoric things like ants in the room (a tropical hazzard); free (or any) internet, if I can get frequent flyer points, if there's a fridge in the room and countless small, nit-picky things!!!!!

You really should publish this list. After all, I'm sure others would like to know where not to stay.

I don't know if there is a hotels.com equivelant in Oz but I'm certain others could benefit from your wisdom and experiences.

I'm glad you all had a nice holiday sans the crappy hotel service. They probably figure if your money bags enough to stay there, they can keep marking up the bill. It’s a greedy world.
