“Alright?” Jayne glanced at her over his shoulder.
“Yeah,” Kaylee watched him standin’ there gun still pointed unwaveringly at Tracey. “Ya can stop pointing that now.”
“He might get up.”
“Don’t think it likely,” Kaylee shuddered. The Captain’s face said that Tracey was dyin’. She was sorry, but glad it weren’t her or one of her family lyin’ down there. “I should go help.”
“He was gonna kill ya.”
“He just wanted to survive,” Kaylee rested her head against his back for a moment. “I’m gonna help him.”
“Fine,” Jayne levelled his gun again. “Stay outta the line of fire.”
