Ramblings
Today it dawned on me that is exactly two months before me and the little guy fly out to the US! Two months! I'm not organised enough, RL keeps interfering. His passport needs renewing. My pack has seen better days. He has no warm clothes and the summer stock has been on sale here for the last couple of months.
On the bright side, I've paid for the airfare, South California pass and Flan!! There's a babysitter at Flan so I'm counting on actually getting together with you guys one night to celebrate! I'm really looking forward to this holiday and meeting everyone.
Which leads me to thinking about the aforementioned friends. It was with great trepidation I posted my very first Firefly fan fiction back in September last year. I've always read fan fiction, even back in the days in was printed on the office photocopier and passed from hand to hand. But till I watched Firefly, and Serenity I was never compelled to write it.
I posted first at Fireflyfans.net and was so pleased to be well recieved, developing friendships over there. Then I saw
rinalins post about a community she started at Livejournal, went to look and was immediately seized with the desire to belong.
I did join, and I'm grateful to all those then and since who have commented on my stories. Belonging to these LJ communities has been wonderful and I've made some great friends. *waves to my flist* It's these friends who've made me feel comfortable, supplied me with banners, encouraged me with great comments and just made this a great place to be.
Since joining I've discovered all sorts of skills I never had. In the beginning I couldn't even figure out how to post a story! It was thanks to
bookistype I got my first one done! Now I can actually make an lj-cut and do the a href thingy and even managed to figure out how to do the links list! See you can teach an old dog new tricks! I've learnt how to use MSN (something I never did before) and love chatting to everybody. I just wish we were in the same timezone sometimes!!
Thanks to all my LJ friends for making this experience such a good one and I hope that there's lots more to come!
Now I've got to stop rambling and go hang out the washing....Anyone want to come over and do the housework???
