Rambling about things

It's 10.10pm and I can still hear every word of the music from my neighbour's house. I suppose I should be grateful that it's not all John Williamson this time, but I'm not. *scowls* I don't mind them listening to music, but loud enough for the whole street to listen to - NO! But they're good neighbours otherwise and I don't want to complain.
In other ramblings for the week -
Swimming training for the little guy has started again this week and surf club sign-ups are soon. Hallelujah! This is the 2nd winter I've noticed a change in his behaviour and have come to the conclusion that he doesn't do enough structured sport from May - September. One soccer practice and one game a week, punctuated by occassional carnivals, isn't enough for his metabolism, temper or my patience! Next winter I'll have to find something else for him to do *sigh*...
Friday, my precious day off, I spent watching him play in the inter-school netball carnival. Our small school didn't have enough girls so a mixed team played. None of the boys had played before and it was funny to watch them try to come to grips with the game. But it was awesome to see them willing to take part in what is considered a 'girls' game and not be embarassed about it.
My mango tree has the best crop of blossoms on it, I'm looking forward to a bumper crop this year! Just as well since we've nearly finished the stuff I had frozen from last year and I'm pining for mango :) I've bought myself this great saw/clipper thingy with a telescopic handle, so this year I'll be able to beat the fruit bats to the higher up fruit before it falls on the ground...
The telescopic saw/clipper thingy is going to help me tame the flowering gum tree out the front (I hope). Finally I'll be able to get the branches that are hanging over the footpath and creating a hazard for passers-by.
This week I've spent freezing passionfruit. My vine died :( , but my friend keeps me well supplied with beautiful pink passionfruit. Since the little guy and I can only eat about 8 each a day, I've frozen the rest and look forward to it garnishing fruit salads etc.
Fandom wise - there's a September ficathon over at
jaylee_ship, friendship fics are extremely welcome too! *hints at flist*. I'm hoping to make my muse co-operate and finish some of the fics I failed to finish for summerofjaylee.
I'm watching with interest the political happenings in the US and wondering how things might turn out at final voting time. My American flisters seem to be mostly Democrats which I find interesting and it leaves me wondering about the psychology of beliefs; though I can't put it into words what I'm trying to say.
Anyway how's everyone else doing????
