Star fest report : Part two

After the autographs I had a break and went looking for the little guy. He was having a great time in the dealer's room and met a couple of kids to run around with so we decided he'd do his photo the next day. I averted my eyes from all the stuff I wanted and went back to line up for my photos with Adam.

I was aeons early, but there was already a monumental line; I was soooo lucky that [livejournal.com profile] elsibet34 finagled me a place close to the front with her. *hugs her*

We whiled away our time watching the costumed throng walk past and talking. It was so great to meet another flister!!

There was a girl standing near us all dressed up like Sarah and Elsi (who was dressed like River) suggested a photo of the two fighters. I must say their poses were very appropriate for the costumes :)

It was soon time for the photos and boy was I nervous. They were pushing us through pretty quickly, but Adam had a quick word for everyone and said to me "the one that likes Chad right?" I managed a nod, but that was about it. The photo of Adam turned out well, though it's a pity I'm in it...

After the photos we split up again till the Q & A that afternoon. I made sure I was on time for that :) I'd bought a VIP pass so I had a good seat and had an unobstructed view for the whole session which was awesome.

Adam spoke very well and answered all the questions fully. I was too busy listening to take notes, so my report here is a bit of a hodge podge. There was lots of humour in both his talk and his answers, but of course I can't re-produce that

Adam gave a small introduction about himself and talked about how great the Firefly fans were and said that being involved with Firefly and Serenity had been a once in a lifetime opportunity. Someone asked him what was a life changing (not the right words) experience for him and he told a story about his son and how hard he tried to improve his baseball swing. (I think it was that, I get confused by American sports :)) Adam's pride in his son's achievement in finally scoring a home run was very obvious and I guess made him seem more like an everyday person...

Another question was about the Firefly cast calling out Summer's name when ever anything went wrong. Adam explained that every show has a 'show scapegoat' and the best person to pick was the most innocent. He said Summer fit the bill perfectly. Someone asked was there a scapegoat on Chuck and he said not yet, but there would be soon.

Another person had a question about weapons; and she and Adam got into a discussion about their favourite firearms during which Adam hid behind a small table. (To hide his excitement?)Adam also told a very funny story about filming Independence Day and the scene with the alien in the lab. He did a pretty good imitation of the director's accent and a description of how the aliens limbs were moved.

At the end of the Q & A the organisers of the con bought out a poster for him to sign. Some of the other guests had already signed it with mostly small signatures at the bottom of the poster. So Adam, after some deliberation made a big flourishing signature right at the top of the poster!!

My photos leave a lot to be desired, I still haven't got the hang of all the settings *sigh*. But here's some anyway...

Adam had another set of autographs after the talk and I went down to take some photos of Kimmie and Sue getting their autographs.

After taking the photos I went to have a rest and afterwards on my way back over to Kimmie's room, I met Adam in the elevator!!!! There was just us two!!!! I asked him was he enjoying himself and he said yes but was tired and was going to have a sandwich. I asked him was he going to the Shindig that night and he said yes, see you there and got out at his floor. I was amazed that I could say anything!!

I hooked up with Kimmie and Sue and we met [livejournal.com profile] elsibet34 at the bar and pretty soon (luckily) ended up sitting near Adam. He was very gracious to everyone and chatted away to the folks sitting at his table and to a young girl who was thrilled to see him just sitting there. Unfortunately I missed my opportunity to chat since I had to go looking for the little guy again; the little guy however had quite a chat with Adam later when he moved out to the patio. Adam said he seemed familiar and the little guy explained their chat at B3. (I always miss these things).

Anyway I had a fine evening with my fellow Browncoats till my reaction to the altitude took over and I went to bed.

Next day I was up realtivley early to go to a couple of panels. The three things I wanted to go to naturally overlapped, so I had to make some choices.

The first panel was a writing workshop that was quite a bit of fun and was pretty well attended. We had to draw 5 strips of paper out of hats and use them to make a story. The papers contained; a theme, an opening phrase, a person, and a couple of other words. At the end of the workshop the authors who ran it gave us the opportunity to read our stuff out loud if we wanted and then picked the best fic. There was some pretty good stuff written from some very strange prompts.

I ducked out half-way through and went to the Browncoat trivia panel, but soon got out and went back to the workshop. It was so interesting I missed the other panel I wanted to attend, but it was worth it.

Next was the line-up for the little guy's photo op with Adam. The line was again long, but we joined Kimmie and co, so didn't have to wait as long as we should have :D This photo was much better, Adam remembered the little guy's name and crouched down so their heights wouldn't be too different. The autographs were much later and it was here that the LG gave Adam the painting [livejournal.com profile] ladytalon1 had done of Chad. Adam at first thought that the LG wanted it signed and was impressed that it was a gift for him; the LG was very verbose about LadyT's liking for Chad, and pointed out the message she'd written on the back and everything :)They talked for quite a while. There was much more opportunity to talk to Adam at this autograph signing. If I ever do it again, I'll have to remember that.

PhotobucketBoth of them are so purdy!

Some of the other things I did were:-

I went to the Pocket Books panel about their future releases for the year. (I love tie-ins!)
Watched Nan Visitor and Nichelle Nichols do their autographs.
Browsed the art show - I won two pieces of artwork at the auction. One of Jayne and one of Serenity...

All in all the Little guy and I had a great time and would go again if we're able.

Isn't Adam a sweetheart? He really takes time and appreciates the fans [sigh].

The best part is the chance meeting on the elevator. Fate loves you. The picture with LG and Adam is perfect. I had no idea your son’s name is Logan. That my son’s middle name as well. Other things, the writers workshop sounds interesting, and I’d love to see a picture of the balconies if you had any.

Thanks for sharing your experience and I’m glad you had a great time. : )

I was just glad I could speak and say something non-fangirlish!!!!!!

We hardly ever hear the name Logan over here and I've never known anyone else with that name! That's so cool.

I do have a pic of the balconies - I'll look for it and post it.

We did have a great time, now I have to start saving for the next trip...

Well, I couldn't very well stay up at the front and let my friend go wayyyyy back to the end of that huge line, could I??? HeckMcBob, no! Plus, it was fun costume ogling with you. XD

Hehe. Wash text messaged me over the next several days. On Sunday, he simply said, "Happy 420" Which totally explains why he always seemed high. We (brother-in-law and I) chatted with him a lot that day, and met his sister, too, who was really nice.

You. Got. Alone. Time! *boggles*

You and Logan both look great with Adam, btw.
