Off to the deep blue sea

Yes today is the day! I'm off down to the hotel soon where all the Browncoats will depart for the cruise terminal - I'm so excited! *bounces*
I've been here in San Diego since Wednesday night and have had a good time. I'm staying at the IYH hostel and as usual it's nice, clean and cheap. All things I have to consider, especially the cheapness :) One of it's features is the free pancake breakfast in the morning. They leave all the fixings beside the stove and you can make your own pancakes. Imagine my surprise when I found myself instructing some others in pancake making! It's not something I do at home at all much to the little guys' disappointment. We have to wait for Grandma to visit for that :)
The hostel is right in the Gaslamp district and provided a free guided walk around the area which I took. This was a great way to see the area and the guide's commentary made it all come alive. I related much better to the town after it I think. I took the hop-on-hop-off bus tour around the greater city area and had a walk around Old Town which was cool and yesterday it rained. This took everyone by surprise, since I gather it doesn't happen here often. So I mostly stayed indoors and read books until it was time to go to early registration for the cruise at the Marriott.
It was great to see so many Browncoats already lined up and waiting for their tickets and it was even better to recieve them!!! I now really believe I'm going on the cruise :D
At 8.00 there was a Shindig at the hotel and I was pleased to meet up with flister
lexigeek and others! It was great to meet the other Aussies who made the trip - there's at least 11 of us, a pretty good number when you consider it! The Bedlam Bards made an appearance and played a couple of songs in their inimitable manner, we were serenaded by bagpipes and Jonathan Woodward also came down for awhile. All in all a good start I think.
We sail at 4.00pm today, and the organisers have a really good program planned. I paid a bit extra and am going to have dinner at Ron's table one night which will be cool. I'll probably update when we get back on the 6th, since I think Internet is 75c a minute on the boat!!!
After my cruise, then I'm off to visit the wonderful
cheshire_monkey. I just can't wait!
See you all soon *waves*...
