“Yer cookin’ tonight?” Jayne’s horrified look would have made her laugh, if it wasn’t what she felt herself. Even Simon and River could cook better than she.

“We got fresh food too, ain’t we?”

She nodded and he groaned.

“’Spose there’s no chance of ya makin’ that soup?” He’d sorta envied Wash that soup.

“No.” Zoe shook her head. She hadn’t made ‘wife soup’ since….well since.

“Move over.” Jayne nudged her out of the way and handed her the knife. “Don’t be tellin’ anyone I helped ya.”

“It’s a secret,” Zoë agreed, surprised at the ease and camaraderie between them.

Oh, I like! I am a big fan of this pairing and they don't get much press. The stuff that has been written out there doesn't ring true character wise for me.

Any chance you'll go down this road again?

Oh yes, you must write more! I really like the idea of Zoe/Jayne, well not before Wash died, but now that she's a widow I think he would make a good match for her. I want to do some with this pairing myself, but I've got so many other ideas to do first.

So, finish Thinking Things Through and then do some more with this! *begs*

Awe that was cute. There is some pretty good Jayne/Zoe fic out there. I especially like the Jayne protective of Zoe stuff that is post BDM. This was very good!
