I knew there was fanfic around, mainly because I'd heard about Kirk/Spock but I wasn't that interested at the time. I joined a Star Wars discussion group in 2000, mainly to discuss the movies and they were posting fanfic and I started reading and then writing and that was the beginning of it or the end. I'm not sure. :P
