I got another job interview! This is for the job I told everyone was a bit high-faluting for me - colour me surprised :D

The interview is Friday however and a good 1400 kms away. I'm suffering from sports related lack of funds, so have to borrow money from my mother. I'd have thought at my age I'd be over that. So wish me luck! :)

Of course the LG's freaking about if I get the job. Despite copious conversations before I applied he now wonders if he can leave his friends, thinks he's too dumb to go to school down south and is in general being obstructive...

Speaking of the LG - we spent the long weekend at a football (rugby league for those who aren't Queenslanders:)) carnival. The team that won and had the most kids selected for the North Qld team were enormous! The age group is under 13, which means in the LG's team most of the kids are still twelve. He's the tallest at 172cm (5ft 7in) and the heavyest boy is about 70 kgs (154lbs)...they were dwarfed! A couple of the kids in the opposing team had moustaches! I think it freaked our kids out :D Still our guys did well. They won two and lost two and learnt some valuable lessons. The LG scored a try and copped an elbow to the eye which has resulted in a spectacular black eye. A good time was had by all :D

Hi there flist! Long time, no ramble.

Though I think that may be changing. After two years of fuzzy brain and general failness, I think we have my pernicious anemia under control! Woot!

I've had the second of my B12 injections (they hurt like crazy) and with a combination of natural remedies seem to be on the up and up! Maybe I'll even be able to finish some fics - wouldn't that be nice? It would make me feel 100% anyway :D

In other news - The LG's football team went down 26-12 in the grand final. They were disappointed, but boy did they play well. And it was 30 degrees! (86 in farenheit) At 9am in the morning! And it's not even summer yet. The kids are already planning next year's campaign :D

With the end of football, surf club starts next week and we're onto our next wave (joke) of sporting contests. We've done our pool swims and I was pleased that I managed the 8 laps in way less than 9 minutes. Yay! Though I'm vowing not to do 70 hours of voluntary patrol this year! I'm getting too old...

Fandom wise -

The first ep of Merlin S3 screens today!!!! Eeeeeeeeee! I'm hoping someone on my flist will upload it before I drown in the squee. Why do we have to wait more than six months? *pouts*

Star Trek fandom continues to eat my brains, and I'm labouring away at the reel_startrek fic. Even with my labouring, the fic will probably come in at under 10000 words. This in a fandom where 30000 + fics are common. *sigh*

Anyway flist, that's enough about me. What are you all up to? I'm dying to know! :D

I should say, for my American flisters, that when I say football - here in Queensland we mean Rugby League. We spent Friday and Saturday at a big football carnival. There were huge numbers of children there from all over the place - 56 teams this year. Apparently it's the biggest football carnival for kids in Australia. Our team did very well though they didn't make the finals. They won 5 games and drew 1 game and so did the team from our pool who made it to the finals. Since the other team drew with us and were the first to score, they went through & ours didn't.

Still all the kids got to be honour guard at the big NRL match that night and some from each team were to run in a relay at half time. While they were running I wa cheering, but not jumping up and down or anything - and suddenly I was hit with what felt like an explosion in my skull. Read more... )
